“It all began in 2020 with one cow. When we brought Daisy home, we had no plans to start a dairy farm. We just wanted fresh milk for our family.”

What Makes This Milk Different
In the farm's own words.
Rich cream-line top
“Our milk is non-homogenized. That means the delicious, natural cream rises right to the top, just like the milk your grandparents grew up drinking!”
Low-temperature vat pasteurization
“We do things the old-school way with low-temperature vat pasteurization. Most big store brands use super-high heat so they can rush the milk out the door. We prefer to take our time, heating it gently and slowly.”
Bottled on the farm
“Because we bottle right here on the farm, it hits our farm store shelves and your favorite local grocery stores at peak freshness.”
Most store-bought milk has to travel hundreds of miles from various farms to a distant processing plant before it ever makes it to a store shelf.
Miller milk is milked, pasteurized and bottled in one place, on a family farm in Colbert County. Then it comes to Huntsville through the Hub.

Common Questions About Our Milk
Is this raw milk?
No. Miller Family Dairy milk is Grade A and pasteurized. The farm uses low-temperature vat pasteurization, a slower method that heats the milk to 145°F in a large vat. It is not homogenized, so the cream still rises to the top.
What is cream-line milk?
Cream-line milk is whole milk that has not been homogenized. Homogenizing breaks up the fat so it stays mixed in. Without it, the cream floats to the top of the jug. Shake it before pouring, or spoon the cream off for coffee.
What is low-temperature vat pasteurization?
In the farm’s words: “It’s a slower, gentler process where the milk is heated to 145°F in a large container and slowly agitated.” Most grocery milk is pasteurized at a higher temperature for a much shorter time.
How much does local milk cost?
A half gallon is $5.50 and a gallon is $7.50.
